Benjamin’s Book
The complete Country Dance manuscript of Benjamin Rose
Farmer, Alehouse keeper and Musician of Belchalwell, Dorset 1820.
133 very danceable tunes as performed in Dorset’s Blackmore Vale, with a detailed introduction by Tim Laycock and a full index and notes on the tunes by Colin Thompson. Benjamin Rose’s music writing is so clear that we have decided to publish a complete facsimile of the original manuscript.
The book comes complete with an MP3 CD of all the tunes for those players that prefer to learn tunes by ear. The tunes are played on violin, with concertina and melodeon accompaniments.
